Why I work by Referral

Working by Referral is all about TRUST Working by Referral is all about TRUST

When I began my real estate career in 2012, I made a commitment to work by referral. It just made sense to me. Every time I needed someone to help me, I’d ask around for recommendations, so why shouldn’t I provide service that way? Sure, I still advertise here and there, but working by referral has made a huge difference in the way I help my clients. Check out this month’s blog to find out why and read a real life story.

When it comes to finding a great service provider, there is nothing like getting a referral from someone you know and trust who has used that provider and received great service. They wouldn't be telling you about them if the service they received was not up to standard.  That’s why I choose to work by referral. Trust is a big deal, especially when it comes to the professional you choose to handle the largest purchase you’ll ever make — the purchase or sale of a home. Plus, it makes the transaction more personable. You're not working with someone totally new, it's someone a mutual friend or family member already knows and trusts.

Here are the benefits to you:

I have more time to serve you and focus on your needs.

Unlike many real estate agents, my primary source of new business are referrals from people who know and trust me. That means I don’t have to spend time prospecting for new business, making cold calls, calling leads, or promoting myself. I'm not looking for ways to get new clients, the clients most of the time, come to me. This allows me to dedicate myself fully to the activities that benefit you most and deliver truly exceptional service.

Service that will exceed your expectations

Because I don't promote myself I know that I must earn your future referrals, so I aim to exceed your expectations. I have a vested interest in making sure that you are completely satisfied at the end of our transaction together. I want you to be so “fired-up” that you can’t wait to tell your friends and family about me and the fantastic service you received! When you come across an opportunity, I’d appreciate you referring me to great people like yourself, who would benefit from the excellent service and personal attention I provide.

Service that continues after the sale

I devote myself to serving the needs of my clients before, during and after each sale. Instead of disappearing after the closing, you can expect me to keep in touch. I always want to stay in touch and top of mind. I will send you valuable information each month, and will also call from time to time just to check in and see if you need anything.

Recently, my clients called me to sell the house I sold them nine years ago. I’ll never forget the day we signed the buyer representation agreement to buy that house. I always tell my clients, whether they’re buying or selling, that this is supposed to be fun-get excited. That was the first piece of advice she took! We signed the contract and she literally yelped in pure joy about the fact that her adventure into home ownership had officially begun! One of my very seasoned colleagues was working at a station just down from where she and I were sitting. He couldn’t help but give a bit of a look when she shrieked in excitement. But then, he cracked a smile. It seemed he remembered that feeling himself, or perhaps he was thinking of a client he had helped who was super excited to buy a house. Regardless, we all had huge smiles that day. Throughout the entire process of searching online, then going to see properties, to filling out offer paperwork and ultimately right up to closing day, she and her husband were right on top of everything and maintained that excitement with every door we walked through. They trusted me and I trusted them. It goes both ways.

Now, nine years have gone by. I had always stayed in touch and provided such great service that they never forgot about me. How amazing that I now have the privilege of helping them sell that same house as they prepare to begin the next chapter of their lives together. Working by referral really does work for all of us!

Working by referral is all about trust. And let’s face it, when we’re seeking a service, we look for someone we can trust. If you or someone you know is looking to sell, buy or just needing some general real estate advice then give me a call. I’d love to help!
